If I had a dollar for every time someone told me life would change forever when I had kids and put it all in a savings account, I’d probably have some money right now. Kids are expensive, time-consuming, and a lot of work. I love my son but all those people were right. Being a dad completely changed my life and it in no way resembles what it was before. My lifestyle, way of viewing the world, and what I think of myself are all different now. Everything in my life now revolves around my family.
I’ve made several career changes in my lifetime and want to switch it up again. I’ve been thinking about going back to college to finish my degree and get into something health related. The only thing that was stopping me was fear of change and the thought of disappointing the people in my life that I care about the most. I’ve spent years going to school, getting certifications, working for a while, and then switching gears and doing something else. Although I’ve enjoyed working in different fields I often struggle with guilt. If I would have stuck with one thing I would probably be at the top of some field by now and living more comfortably. Reading Work Pause Thrive helped me to see its ok to change and redefined my idea of success.
In Work Pause Thrive, Lisen Stromberg shares the stories of several highly successful women. These women rock and their stories are incredible and inspirational. Although they didn’t take the traditional path to success, it was their deviation from the norm and incredible drive that laid the foundation for unique and amazing accomplishments. Although these women had families they were extremely successful and lived the lives they wanted.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it for moms and dads. You’ll learn how taking different paths and taking a pause for the cause can enrich both your career and family life. Reading Work Pause Thrive helped me to see a better future for myself and my family and motivated me to make some much-needed changes in my life.
Work Pause Thrive is available for purchase at Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes & Noble. I downloaded mine from Amazon and read it using the Kindle app on my phone and think that’s the way to go. Using the app I was able to read on breaks, during lunch, and at the times most convenient to me. I got mine free in exchange for an honest review. You can get a free copy too if you are lucky enough to win the giveaway below.
